Frequently asked questions

Do electric fireplaces need a chimney or vent?

No. Electric fireplaces produce flame effects with light and heat with a built-in element, so there is no smoke or exhaust. That means no chimney, flue, or outside venting is required, which is why they can go in almost any room.

Can an electric insert go into my old wood-burning fireplace?

In most cases, yes. Electric inserts are made to fit inside an existing masonry or prefab firebox. We measure your opening, recommend a properly sized insert, and install it so the finished look is clean and the unit has the power supply it needs.

Do electric fireplaces actually produce heat?

Yes. Most units include a heater that can warm the room they are in, and many let you run the flame effect with the heat off. They work well as supplemental heat, though they are not designed to replace a whole-home heating system.
